Peter Giersch, Managing Director

Since 2004, Peter Giersch has been providing management consulting to small businesses and non-profits as the founder of Cathedral Consulting Group. After two years of consistent growth, Peter joined forces with Phil Clements and opened an office in New York and later New Jersey. Since the merger in 2007 Cathedral has had over 200 clients and grown to a staff of more than a dozen professionals across three states.

As a major consulting assignment, Peter was the interim President of the National Bible Association in New York City. Hired in 2005 to lead a “return to prominence” for this 65 year-old organization, Peter divided his time between Milwaukee, Manhattan and Washington, D.C. for almost five years. After enhancing programs and rebuilding National Bible using his “run it like a business” approach to non-profit management, Peter found and trained his successor and turned the reigns over to him in early 2009.

Before founding the Cathedral Consulting Group, Peter was the Senior VP of Operations for The Legacy Group, Inc., a firm of philanthropic advisors located in Brookfield, Wisconsin. In addition to his role as Senior VP, he was in charge of the firm’s largest client, the Mercy Works Foundation, overseeing nearly $2 million in grant awards each year.

Prior to joining the Legacy Group he was a Chapter Director for Legatus International, an organization of Catholic CEOs. A natural teacher and trainer, Peter’s first job out of college was as an ESL instructor in Paris. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in English with minors in Communication and French from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he also earned his Wisconsin State Teachers License in 1992. He was awarded a Masters of Arts from Marquette University in 1997. Peter has earned his Series 6 & 63 Financial Certification and was for a time a Registered Representative for a local mutual fund company.

Peter sits on the Board of Directors of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and currently serves on the Executive Committee of the MSO. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the University Club of Milwaukee, and was chosen by the Milwaukee Business Journal in 2003 as one of Milwaukee's "40 under 40.”

Peter lives in Thiensville, WI with his wife and five children. He enjoys golf and tennis with his family and playing piano and guitar when the cold weather keeps them indoors.
